Fr. Matthew and St. Isidore youth traveled to Rome last summer to immerse themselves in holy places, become friends with the saints, and grow deeper in faith alongside a million young Catholics from around the world.
Rome was an amazing spiritual journey that I will remember forever. We visited many historical churches and sites in Rome and Assisi that allowed me to connect with God in one of the most amazing places in the world.
While on the pilgrimage, we made many sacrifices, which were part of the experience. It was all worth it. The breathtaking views and quality time with God was like nothing I had done before.
One of the most memorable moments was sleeping overnight on a field with one million other young pilgrims representing almost every country on earth. Despite many language barriers, we celebrated, bonded, and laughed during this experience. Even when the midnight rain soaked our sleeping bags, we still had a blast!
This journey allowed me to reflect and spend lots of quality time in prayer. It amazed me to see the long history of Catholicism. This trip showed me how we are a part of a faith that is much bigger than we can ever imagine. The Rome Jubilee was truly a life changing experience and will be remembered for life!
